Influence of Aulosira fertilissma extract on anatomical structure of wheat stem and root.

Influence of different concentration of water and ether extract on anatomical structure of stem and root of wheat has been studied by presoaking seed treatment. Results show that presoaking seed treatment with 1 percent water and 1 percent ether extract for 24 hrs exercise maximum results. Results show that diameter of root, stem, vascular bundle and number of root hair increased over control with ether extract. Effect of water and ether extract of Aulosira fertilissima show a uniformly stimulated formation of phloem and xylem tissue coupled with increase in the size of tracheids and ground tissue. This indicates that development of stem and root is linked with auxin level. Auxin deficiency stimulates development of xylem. Exogenous supply of certain growth regulators blocked the transport of auxin. During present investigation exogenous supply of growth substances in Aulosira fertilissima extract causes a kind of competition with endogenous auxin level and displace auxin to the extremities of root and stem to initiate apical growth and thus, cause auxin deficiency in the older regions, thereby stimulating development of xylem. This may explain the increased formation of xylem, phloem and ground tissue observed during present investigation. Results emphasize an overall change in morpho-anatomy of stem and root to provide better conduction and facilitate better vegetative growth and yield.
