The Alaskan Wood Handbook.

Wood plays an important part in the success of Alaskans to survive and thrive in a sometimes inhospitable climate. Other than a few floras geared to identifying trees in the field, there is not a single descriptive source that specifically targets the Alaskan woods. A wood handbook for the trees of Alaska will be compiled starting in the summer of 2010. Targeting woody plants that have a dbh (diameter at breast height) of four inches or more, it will contain updated distribution maps, microscopic and macroscopic interactive keys, chemical information, and mechanical characteristics.
